Tofu is a versatile and healthy ingredient that can be used in many cuisines, from Chinese to Thai. It’s soy milk that’s turned into curds and pressed into blocks, and it’s rich in protein, calcium, and fiber. But sometimes, tofu can be bland or soggy if not prepared properly. That’s why I love this crispy baked tofu recipe, which is easy to make and comes out perfectly seasoned, with extra crunchy edges and a tender interior.

Crispy Baked Tofu with Olive Oil and Soy Sauce is perfect for any occasion, whether it’s a weeknight dinner or a special occasion.

Here’s how to make Crispy Baked Tofu with Olive Oil and Soy Sauce in a few simple steps:

  • 1/2 block of extra firm organic tofu
  • 1 tablespoon of olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce (or tamari for gluten-free version)
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch (or arrowroot starch)

  1. Butterfly the tofu first by cutting it horizontally into two halves.
  2. Wrap each half in a clean cloth or paper towel to absorb all of the water. The key is to make sure it is dry before you bake it.
  3. Mix equal parts olive oil and soy sauce in a bowl.
  4. Cube the tofu and coat in sauce.
  5. Pour 2 tablespoons of cornstarch or arrowroot starch and coat tofu.
  6. Bake at 400 degrees for 25 minutes, turning half way.

  • If you don’t have an air fryer, you can also bake the tofu in the oven using a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  • You can add some chopped vegetables or herbs to the sauce for more flavor and nutrition.
  • You can serve the crispy baked tofu with your favorite sauce or dip, such as teriyaki sauce, peanut sauce, or curry sauce.
